In 2012 McLaren Vale was hit by reduced yields (up to 50% less than normal). The upside to this was the quality of the grapes. The 2012 Block 5 displayed extremely concentrated fruit with exceptional colour and varietal expression.

Phil was born in Adelaide in 1960 and is known as the God Father of Garage, largely due to his purpose built small batch winery in McLaren Vale. Phil primarily works with quality producers to create bespoke fine wines. Phil’s philosophy in winemaking is a non interventionalist approach with the wine predominately made in the vineyard, his job being to nurture it from vine to bottle.
